Criminal Law

Criminal law is when a suit has been brought against a defendant for alleged illegal activity. If you have been accused or arrested of a crime in Texas, you may be feeling scared, overwhelmed, and confused about your next step.

There are a variety of different sections of criminal law in Texas.

Drunk Driving

In Texas, there are two penalties for drunk driving, DUI and DWI. Driving Under the Influence (DUI) is only issued to those under the age of 21. A DUI can be issued to anyone in this age group if they are driving with any level of alcohol in their system, even if it is under the legal limit.

Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) offense occurs when a person is operating a car with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 or higher or is under the influence of drugs.

Domestic Violence

The use of force in domestic situations that threaten to and/or cause bodily harm. In the home, this typically involves the violent abuse of a spouse or partner. It includes physical violence, sexual violence, psychological violence, and emotional abuse.

Burglary and Criminal Trespass

This is when an individual enters and/or stays on or in the property of another without expressed consent.
